About

NOLAN BRYANT is a journalist, fashion collector and independent exhibition-maker. Since 2014, he has been the society columnist for what is considered Canada’s newspaper of record, The Globe and Mail, providing national coverage to the country’s foremost philanthropic causes and the people supporting them. The column itself dates back to 1893. Frequently called “the most invited man in Canada”, his gala reportage has also taken him to Paris, London, New York and Shanghai. He contributes regularly to the Globe and Mail’s Style Advisor Magazine and Arts section during the Toronto International Film Festival. His backstage photography has covered Berlin Fashion Week, Mumbai Fashion Week and Toronto Fashion Week. As a longstanding collector and student of post-war haute couture, Nolan is in demand as a curator, exhibition designer and lecturer. He launched his curatorial practice in 2015 by consulting on Fashion Blows, which focused on the wardrobe of the late fashion visionary Isabella Blow and The Honourable Daphne Guinness. His most recent exhibition, Milli: A Celebration of Style (2019), put the archive of fashion retailer Milli Gould in conversation with works from the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s permanent collection. In 2020, Nolan joined the firm of noted interior designer Colette van den Thillart, and in addition to his role as director of communications, he also assists on global design projects. Nolan currently lives in the Rosedale neighbourhood of Toronto with his partner and their miniature dachshund.
