It Takes A Village...

When people say it takes a village to get ready its hard to believe until you yourself have the task at hand.

I’m not one to shy away from the fact that I don’t wake up looking the way I do. Relying on trained professionals to keep me maintained and looking my best has become somewhat of a ritual. Last weeks Bloor Street Entertains was no exception and I admit it took a small village to get me looking the way I did. Pulling out all the stops and calling upon the city’s finest to get me looking my greatest was a must.

First task wardrobe: Weeks have passed since Toronto Fashion Week but images of Lizares spring summer 2010 collection were still lingering in my thoughts. The ostridge lather lapels were on my agenda to be worn and BSE was the perfect event. After getting in touch with Lisa at Lizares it was confirmed that I would be wearing the ostridge leather lapel jacket that I had been dreaming about for weeks. Unfortunately when I picked up the pieces from Brian Maristela (Lizares creative director) the jackets were all too large. The stunning jacket that I wanted desperately to wear was swallowing my small frame. After much deliberation I decided to go with another suit that fit me and I would feel more comfortable in. Brian and Lisa were wonderful to work with and in the future I hope to wear Lizares when the time and fit is just right. The Next appointment of the day was dedicated to Hair and I like many others are continuously searching for the perfect blow dry. I think I might have found it. Blo, The Blow Dry Bar with three locations around the city is dedicated to quick and effortless hairstyling, in 30 minutes for less then 30 dollars you’re styled and ready to go. No cuts, no colors and surprisingly no wait, I called ahead due to my days schedule but walk-ins are more then welcome. Brooklyn at the Four Seasons location did a wonderful job and within 30 minutes I was washed, dried, styled and ready to go. Perfect for big events, a night on the town or before lunch and the Avenue Bar, Blo will confect the perfect coif to suit your needs. http://www.blomedry.com/

When you receive an invitation from Chanel it’s crucial that you attend. I was recently invited to attend the media opening of the new Chanel cosmetic boutique in the Holt Renfrew Bloor St. location. Media personalities of all types were in attendance, beauty editors, bloggers and photographers all on hand to take part in Chanel’s latest venture. At 432 square feet, this one-of-a-kind retail space is designed to offer consumers an exclusive environment to experience the world of Chanel Fragrances, Makeup and Skincare in an innovative way while being serviced by a team of fragrance and cosmetic experts. While at the event I was offered a makeup application for the following nights big event BSE (Bloor Street Entertains), I of course couldn’t turn that down and the next day after my appointment at Blo found myself sitting in the classic Chanel tweed makeup chair being made over by a talented Chanel cosmetician.

After that it was up the escalator to the second floor where the Holt Renfrew cocktail party was being held. Moet Champagne was flowing and the guests were dressed to impress, co-chairs of the nights event Joe Mimran and wife Kimberly Newport Mimran were in attendance to welcome guests. After a quick drink and a few pictures it was off to Eleven where dinner was being served.
